SE pretreatment protects animals from acute APAP-induced hepatotoxicity, as assessed by TUNEL staining. Animals treated as in Fig. 1 were euthanized at 24 h post-intraperitoneal injection, and the livers were harvested at necropsy. Liver specimens were fixed and processed, and sections were stained with TUNEL. These micrographs provide ×4 (a, b, c), ×10 (d, e, f), and ×20 (g, h, i) magnified images of representative TUNEL-stained sections of the livers obtained from control (a, d, g), APAP (b, e, h), and SE + APAP (c, f, i) group animals.
